Azure Water Makes Bottled Water Labels For Leesburg Lightning

Azure Water Makes Bottled Water Labels for Leesburg Lightning

June 10, 2015

Summertime green on a Florida afternoon. The smell of grass, baseball wood and hotdogs wafts through the air. It is time to play ball.

The players for the Lightning – Leesburg’s college league baseball – trot onto the field.

This is quintessentially small-town America – the old-fashioned way. The artifacts of a bygone era – of homespun traditions, of family and friends, of country life – arrive on scene with a vengeance. The quiet roar of celebration of all things Americana are on grand display. At the ballpark.

Azure Water Salutes the Leesburg Lighting

Azure Water takes time to salute the values and mores of proud America. Always dedicated to serving the needs of the local community, Azure Water is printing the labels for the team’s bottled water and providing 24 oz. bullet bottles with sports caps.

The reason: We at Azure Water, which is in Leesburg, believe in the values and virtues of supporting our community, and we believe in expressing our allegiance to a town in which we have planted our roots. This is about Leesburg, Florida, our city.

Lightning Joins State League in 2007

The Leesburg Lightning became part of the Florida Collegiate Summer League in 2007. The league acquired five franchise teams at that time.

The Lightning has surprised both the league and the city in many ways. In its first season, the team reached the league’s championship game at St. Petersburg’s Tropicana Field in Florida.

The Lightning, which during home games attracts large crowds of fans, beat Altamonte Springs’ Snappers 6-0 to grab the league championship. The following year (its second season) the Lightning only advanced to third in the regular season and losing in the playoff – to a neighboring team, the Clermont Mavericks.

Top Coach Takes Reins of Team

Frank Viola joined the team as Lightning’s head coach in 2009, a true heavy weight in the baseball world. Viola is a former Major League Baseball World Series MVP and Cy Young Award winner. Under Viola’s direction, the team finished its third season with a 21-18 record. The Lightning flashed to another championship that year, beating the team that had knocked them out the previous year, the Clermont Mavericks.

Viola led the team in 2010 to its second straight third place finish and the Lightning finished top in the league with 361 hits.

MLB Supports Florida league

The FCSL, a nonprofit organization, oversees six teams in Central Florida and has been named one of the top leagues in the country by Baseball America. The league is one of ten that is supported and partially funded by Major League Baseball.

The Lightning play home games at Buddy Lowe Field at Pat Thomas Stadium, which opened in 1937 as the first lighted stadium in Florida. The field’s name was to honor former coach Buddy Lowe, who died in 2008, a year prior to the Lightning’s inaugural game.
