Azure Provides Personalized Bottled Water for Event

July 14, 2015

Seeing isn’t always believing, especially as New Vision for Independence in Lake and Sumter counties celebrates its 10th anniversary providing services and resources to blind and visually impaired people.

As part of its community outreach efforts, Azure Water in Leesburg, Florida provided personalized bottled water for an event to bring attention to New Vision for Independence’ education and services campaigns.

The ribbon cutting event is taking place from 5:30 – 7 p.m. at the Tavares Pavilion on Lake Dora, 200 South Disson Ave. It is free and open to the public. A dessert and cash bar is being provided.

Chambers of commerce for Lake Eustis, Leesburg, Tavares, Mount Dora, Lady Lake and Sumter County will hold ribbon cuttings to commemorate New Vision for Independence’s milestone.

For additional information or to make reservations, visit www.newvisionfl.org/events. New Vision for Independence serves residents in Lake and Sumter counties and The Villages.

New Vision for Independence publishes statistics on its website about the impairment:

  • Nearly 500,000 Florida residents are blind or visually impaired.
  • Florida ranks second in the nation for having the highest number of people with visual impairment, macular degeneration, glaucoma or Florida is No. 3 in the nation for diabetic retinopathy.
  • More than 13,000 residents are listed as being visually impaired or blind in Lake and Sumter counties.

The National Accreditation Council for Blind and Low Vision Services re-accredited New Vision for Independence earlier this year. The accreditation lasts five years and is the longest awarded period. New Vision for Independence has held its accreditation since 2011 and serves nearly 200 people in the two counties.
